magdas Hotel is an international meeting place. The lounge in the salon is a large, cozy living room with an interesting design, and it is like a cultural melting pot. This is a special kind of hotel experience: the magdas Hotel is Austria’s first hotel run as a social business.

1. People

   A special feature of the magdas Hotel is certainly the employees, who come from all over the world with different cultures and who collectively speak 23 different languages. Refugees from crisis-ridden countries bring diversity and come from backgrounds, which are especially embraced in this international setting of hotel guests and which allow for a special position in the hotel market in Vienna.In addition, access to the job market is generally very difficult and limited. This is exactly why the magdas Hotel would like to offer refugees the chance to demonstrate their abilities and talents.

2. Accommodationswith added social value

   The magdas HOTEL is Austria’s first hotel that is run as a social business. The hotel gets by without financial assistance and 2/3 of the employees are people with a refugee background. These employees look after all your needs and run the hotel together with professionals from the hotel industry. Thus, this creates a cultural meeting place for travelers, Vienna locals, and all those looking for something special.

3. Location

   In the middle of the greenery and yet in the heart of the vibrant city: in only 15 minutes along the Danube, you will come to the 1st district and reach the city center via the Schwedenplatz. We are located in the middle of the Prater with a magnificent running route through the park. The proximity to the airport is also a great advantage for international guests traveling from afar.

4. Breakfast

   Our new head chef Reinhard Kroiss has considerably improved breakfast, enriched it with international specialties, and put the delicious treats on display on the buffet.

5. Design

   Upcycling is the key word here: this is another special feature that arose out of necessity due to a small budget when renovating magdas.Architect Daniel Büchel did a superb job with individual design elements and color concepts and equipped the rooms with recycled furniture including hand-knitted lampshades, vintage armchairs, and wardrobes that could previously be found in the compartments of the Austrian Federal Railway trains.

6. Art

   An important theme at magdas are changing exhibits in the salon, which are organized in coordination with our art advisor and Atelier10 and which enrich the ambiance. We also have a great cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts, which has provided a piece of art for every room. You will have tons of fun discovering these works. If you would like more information, there is a book at the reception desk that describes the works and provides information about the artists and in what rooms the works can be found.

7. magdas SALON

   Our large living area is a meeting place of different cultures, and everyone is welcome here! Whether coffee and cake with family, a glass of Prosecco and a chat with friends, or a glass of fine wine and snacks, the bar provides a diverse offer! In summer, you can also enjoy the beautiful garden!

8. Service

   Great importance is placed on service at the magdas HOTEL. Simply come to the reception desk and we will find the perfect solution for you. We will also be happy to inform you about sights, attractions, and restaurants and provide insider tips. For free, you can enjoy WLAN throughout the hotel and tablets for streaming in your room. If you book direct, you can also rent stylish Puch bikes! We have an underground garage for the price of Euro 13 per day.

9. Celebrations & conferences

   Share your requests with us, and we will be glad to organize your company party, birthday celebration, anniversary party, wedding, reception, dinner, or cozy get-together – almost anything is possible! This is a great opportunity for guests from near and far and can be combined with overnight stays.With good weather, the garden (staffed in summer, in winter with a punch stand) is a great experience! Seminar and conference rooms with a catering package for up to 20 people are also available!

    magdas breeds bees on the roof, and you can purchase honey at the reception desk. magdas soap (shower gel and shampoo in one) is made exclusively for us, actually for YOU, by Lederhaas organic cosmetics and is of organic quality! Another resource-friendly quality is that the HOTEL is located in a former retirement home!
